About me
As a director and costume designer, I am drawn to the powerful intersection between visual storytelling and performance. These disciplines inform and enrich one another, allowing me to create theatre that is visually striking, emotionally engaging, and theatrically unexpected. I am particularly inspired by rich language, epic narratives, and passionate, complex characters. My work seeks to reimagine familiar stories in ways that surprise audiences while remaining deeply connected to the heart of the text.
My approach to directing places equal emphasis on language and physical storytelling. I encourage actors to move beyond intellectual analysis and fully embody the world of the production through movement, presence, and imagination. Drawing on techniques from clowning, dance, and ensemble-based theatre, I guide performers toward creating dynamic, physically expressive characters. Collaboration is at the core of my practice; rather than centering traditional notions of “lead” roles, I believe every performer is essential to building the world of a production. The strength of the ensemble is what brings a story to life.
As a leader, I am committed to fostering rehearsal rooms that are respectful, supportive, and creatively ambitious. I reject leadership models rooted in intimidation or hierarchy, believing instead that artists do their best work when they feel valued, challenged, and empowered. Theatre should be a space of curiosity, joy, and meaningful artistic exchange. Throughout my career, I have sought to champion the work of fellow artists and contribute to a culture of generosity within the theatre community. I believe that by supporting one another rather than competing against one another, we create a stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient artistic landscape.
